Alejandro Toledo Martínez

Endolinguistics researcher and author

Endolinguistics was founded in 1993 by C. S. Meulemans and J. Á. Elias. Alejandro Toledo Martínez began studying with them in 1997 and, now that they are no longer with us, continues and extends the research they began. He is not the founder of the discipline but its continuing researcher.

His own contribution has been to systematise the discipline and to develop its qualic and quantic dimension — in particular the OAS model of seven pre-symbolic consonantal classes, and a way of reading meaning not as denotation but as a resonant stack of depths.

It is worth remembering where this knowledge comes from. Meulemans and Elias were, first of all, teachers of languages, at work since the 1950s, and endolinguistics grew inductively out of that practice — an application before it was a theory. Its most direct use remains applied endolinguistics: a methodology for the accelerated learning of languages, from which the deeper theory continues to draw.

Several connected disciplines have grown from that core. Endolinguistics studies the deep structures of human language — the endolenguaje — beneath its observable surface, the exolenguaje, through binary and ternary codes: a code orients a field of meaning, it does not define it. Qualic metaphysics is an ontology of appearing built on the notion of the cualo, and on Agustín Basave Fernández del Valle’s theory of habencia. Psychophonology studies how thought becomes sound. Sociolinguistic cryptology reads public discourse as a layered coding system, decoded differently by different audiences.

He holds these ideas as hypotheses earned by long labour, not as settled results. The method is cautious and built to be falsifiable: a code is a claim about the relations between words, tested against the historical record, and discarded when it fails. Endolinguistics does not replace historical linguistics — it presupposes it. It is not etymology, and it is not mysticism; it is, if anything, a disciplined science of apparent coincidences.

His fiction works the same material by other means: historical espionage, philosophical cyberpunk and geopolitical thrillers that test, in narrative situation, the same questions about meaning, ethics and what can genuinely be shared between two minds.
